Treadmill vs Outdoor Pace

Man, I'm on a roll with posting on this blog. Don't get too excited because it's going to slow down eventually... My last post about my treadmill runs reminded me that I wanted to look up how treadmill running compares to outdoor running because they FEEL very different. I figured someone had probably gone to all the work to figure it out. And what do you know? Someone had! Here is a chart for Effort-Based Treadmill Training Speeds. I have no idea how it was figured out, so take it with a grain of salt. At least I will, until I find out more. Apparently, runners in general feel like their treadmill pace is slower than outdoors for the same amount of effort, which is counterintuitive for me. We'll see--maybe I'll try to run a mile on the track soon. Or maybe I'll just run a mile randomly somewhere. That's what my Garmin is for, right? The track can be mentally challenging. Give me a nice running path any day!
