As if that wasn't enough...

Just to make sure I burned enough calories on Saturday, I followed the 13.3 mile run with a nice game of soccer. Since I wanted to make sure burning all those calories didn't benefit me in any way, I gorged myself at a birthday party after the run (but before the soccer). haha Actually, I'm pretty sure I still didn't eat enough food on Saturday to make up for a 2hr+ run and 1hr+ of soccer. Plus we can't forget about the super awesome family dance party with a real DJ that our neighborhood had right after my soccer game. But the news I'm really blogging about right now is that I got injured at my soccer game! I was totally about to take a shot and someone plowed me over and I somehow strained a muscle in the front of my left hip and got a hugonginormous bruise on my right knee. It was probably really stupid of me, but since I fell in the middle of the first half, I limped off the field (leaving my team with only 10 players!), took some ibuprofen, sat out the rest of the first half, then came back in to play the whole second half. It might have been dumb, but it sure was fun! Since I was on ibuprofen, I was able to dance my heart out at the dance party without really feeling anything. That was pretty cool. But, once the painkillers wore off, I could feel it again, so I took Monday off from running and opted for the ellipticals at the gym (and I did this on Tuesday too). Last night I had another soccer game and I felt almost back to normal beforehand, aside from some tightness (but no pain) in my hip. I didn't even notice ANY sensation in my hip until the end of the first half, but by the end of the game, I was kind of having to alter my stride a bit because of the tightness and a medium level of pain. For the rest of the night I was feeling it a lot when I was walking anywhere, so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to run this morning or not, and luckily (!) when I woke up this morning, it was barely noticeable. Yay! So I did my typical 5 mile Wednesday morning run and I didn't notice any hip stuff at all until almost 4 miles, but it never got bad enough that I felt like I needed to stop, and it's felt fine all day. Soooooo...maybe I'll run on the treadmill a bit tomorrow morning at the gym? Maybe just one or two miles followed by some more elliptical. Maybe not. I should probably rest it, huh? Then I think I'll take it easy on Friday before our looooooooooooooooong run on Saturday. Anyway, hopefully the injury was just a minor little thing and I won't have to think about it anymore!
