It has been SO RAINY here for the past while--all of our recent runs have been wet ones. Today, all of us who are still in town decided to skip the morning long run (which would have happened during 2 entirely rainy hours this morning) in favor of a mid-afternoon run (which ended up being dry and sunny after the first bit!). Oh how I have missed the sun!! The run was so beautiful! We ran ELEVEN miles! We ran past green rolling hills, wildflowers, rushing creeks and small waterfalls, and most of it was done on beautiful tree lined paths. We are so lucky to be able to run here at Stanford! These next couple of months are going to be dreamy for running, with the weather warming up but the hills still green and wildflowers blooming everywhere. Ahhhhh. Yes, I think I must still be experiencing a runner's high, despite the soreness of my legs. Our overall pace today was over 30 seconds faster per mile than our 10 mile run last week. It must have been the sun and the lack of rain! We even had some pretty strong wind to run against for the first 7-ish miles.
All in all, I'm finding that we're coming into this half marathon training with legs that are much more prepared for the stresses we're putting on them. Our legs still get really tired and sore with each run, but they recover much faster!
Yay for ELEVEN!
